How To Wear and Care For Our Silk Face Covers

Our Silk Face Scarf was designed at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is meant to be worn as a face cover to protect others from your coughs and sneezes. We recommend wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

Our Silk Face Scarf has the following properties:

  • Snug but comfortable fit
  • Multiple layers of fine silk fabric
  • Forms to the bridge of the nose
  • Breathable without restriction
  • Quick and simple wash and air-dry
  • Ironable on silk setting
  • Steamable
  • Choice of Ear Loops
  • Sustainable without the use of harmful dyes

After each wear, we recommend washing the scarf in hot soapy water immediately. Once rinsed and wrung, you should hang, lay flat or blow dry - do not tumble dry. The tight weave of the silk prevents small particles from entering your nose and mouth. A simple tissue can be folded and inserted in the pocket as an extra filter - dispose the tissue after each wear. You should not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth when removing the face mask and wash your hands immediately after removing.

How To Wear

Simply place the silk cloth on your nose using the wire to mold to the shape of your nose and firmly tie in the back under your ears until the scarf feels snug. Make sure it is comfortable before you leave the house. Once you are outside, do not touch the front of the scarf with your hands.

Caution: Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
